The approach. Multi-omic profiling of the E. coli production strain in traditional LB culture media. VHL delivered a custom media supplement of 22 new and additional ingredients — mechanism-backed redesign, not empirical screening.

What we found
The recombinant protein yield ceiling was governed by complex amino acid and and cofactor limitations, not by expression system capacity. The reformulated media pushed titer nearly 4X at equivalent cell density. Methodology generalizes across bacterial systems.
